Mooks

Mooks was founded in Melbourne, Australia in 1991 by pro-skater and entrepreneur Peter Hill and graphic design guru Richard Allan. Peter saw a gap in the market for a new kind of youth focused clothing brand which was not built on Surf or Skate as a foundation.

Brand History
By 2001 Mooks was being distributed in 15 countries with retail stores in London, Los Angeles,Tokyo, Auckland, Sydney and Melbourne. The term or name MOOKS comes from the tough Martin Scorsese movie ‘Mean Streets’ where it is used to describe a ‘wise guy’ or ‘hustler’. The unique horned lightbulb and trident logo stands for creativity and originality. The lightbulb represents clever ideas, the horns signify irreverence and not taking life too seriously and the trident is about being ambitious and strong. The logo has not changed since 1991 and remains just as iconic as
it was then. These elements combine to give Mooks its identity and drive to be different and relevant to a new generation of global consumer. In 2006 Mooks was acquired by Brand Collective who have been investing heavily in order to take the brand to new heights.
