Freshjive was conceived in 1989 by Rick Klotz and friends. It was created to represent their influences, which centered around skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding, music, nightlife, and all around Los Angeles inner city lifestyle. At the time of conception, there was no such thing as street wear brands fusing all these cultural influences. Rick and friends were heavily into skateboarding and surfing, but felt that surf/skate brands did not represent their L.A inner city life lifestyle that revolved around the music and club scene. There was much interest in high fashion style, but that did not reflect a fusion of all of these influences. The company influenced a lot of street heads to venture out on their own brands based on their individual influences, also.
